Ritter eliminates Office of Colorado Benefits Management System
Yesterday, Democratic Governor Bill Ritter eliminated the Office of Colorado Benefits Management System, a small office established and helmed by Republicans. The move will save taxpayers about $200,000. Not much, I admit. I only bring it up because it's the latest example of why, ten years from now, voters will have completely forgotten that the GOP used to be associated with terms like "fiscal responsibility" and "small government."

Not to be an ass, but do you know anything at ALL about CBMS?
I'm not sure how someone who follows Colorado state politics would just blow off CBMS as "a small office helmed by republican's"
Go look into what CBMS actually does - it's core function was to make liberal social programs more efficient and effective. CBMS itself still exists - and is still a mess. The office was created because of the totaly dysfunction of DHS and HCPF - Beye and Hanneberry will take care of that issue.
Dr. Wittwer is no GOP hack - he is an intelligent man with nothing but the best interests of colorado on his agenda.
I'm a Dem and an avid reader, I find your page much more palatable than the drivel on Square State. That said, this closing is a big deal but your characterization leaves, I believe, a lot to be desired.
Steve,
Yeah, I know. Yeah, you're right. And yeah, I know what CBMS did.
Some people out there believe that all Dems are always for government. While all Republicans are always anti government. I like to point out when that's not the case.
I just knew I should've provided more context for this post. Just knew it. Thanks for calling me on it. Glad to know people are reading carefully.
One more clarification:
I characterized OCBMS as a "small office helmed by Republicans" based purely on the Rocky's description of it in the article I linked to:
Owens tapped one of the state's most respected lawmakers, Rep. John Witwer, R-Evergreen, to oversee the two-person office.
