Amanda Marcotte quits the John Edwards campaign:
"Bill Donohue and his calvacade of right wing shills don't respect that a mere woman like me could be hired for my skills, and pretended that John Edwards had to be held accountable for some of my personal, non-mainstream views on religious influence on politics."
(More: Fix, Pandagon)

Nope, Amanda, Donahue and his nasty little friends just saw an opportunity to create a problem for a Democrat and they took it. Libs would have done the same if they had found a blogger for a Republican candidate on record with "personal", uncomplimentary comments about Blacks, Mexicans or Jews. How did you think politics worked?
f.sage,
That's not accurate. McCain's blogger had many remarks like this and was never called on them.
Just because something didn't happen in a particular case doesn't mean it's inaccurate to say both sides look for opportunities to jump all over the opposing side. The right has just been much more efficient in their search and destroy missions but we've known that for years. Donahue found some public statements he thought could be used to cause a problem for Edwards and he used them. If there is something even mildly surprising or unpredictable here, I'm missing it. The blogger's righteous indignation is pretty naive. I bet Edward's is relieved to be rid of her and just hopes everybody stops talking about it already. So I'm stopping.
check out what lib bloggers say versus Ann the Mann, Savage, Beck, et al. daily and then tell me they compare.
I won't be waiting........
As I think about it, Marcotte was probably right to resign in order to draw fire away from the Edwards campaign, but what she has to do now is take full, vocal advantage of these 15 minutes of fame she's been handed. Of course some of her comments were far too edgy for a political campaign, probably at any level, but that doesn't mean she's wrong in what she says. Now that she has a soapbox, she has a golden opportunity to become a strong voice as a liberal blogger. Everyone knows, we need more voices like hers.
