Feingold will not run for President in 2008

Democratic Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold has decided against a 2008 presidential run. Feingold was a friend to our congressional candidates in 2006. And he deserves our thanks.

I got Sen. Feingold's email newsletter today with this announcement, and frankly I'm glad to see him remain in the Senate. We need him there, just as we need Sen. Clinton of New York and Sen. Obama of Illinois in the Senate. If they remain there, it will set the stage for an overwhelming Democratic Senate majority come 2008, when no fewer than 33 seats come up for grabs, including of course one here in Colorado. I for one remain firmly in the Al Gore camp, that is once he realizes the support he would enjoy once he finally decides to throw his hat into the ring.

Just as long as we get Al Gore, and not Al Gore with Bob Shrum attached.

Exactly. Frankly I don't know why Bob Shrum and the rest of the consultant class hasn't been (figuratively, anyway)take out and shot. I'm sure you've read Crashing the Gate!
