Bill Ritter vs. Bob Beauprez: My least favorite meme of 2006

I hear fingernails on a chalkboard everytime someone describes the Medina ad flap as part of the continuing debate over illegal immigration. For instance, check out today's Rocky Mountain News:

Sparks flew over illegal immigration, when CBS 4 ran a controversial Beauprez ad attacking Ritter for allowing 151 immigrant criminals to avoid deportation by pleading to the reduced charge of farmland trespass.

This issue is not a subset of the illegal immigration debate. It transcends it.
