Allard's seat among nation's most vulnerable

Hat-tip to ColoradoPols for pointing me to this story in The Washington Post:

Regardless of whether Allard runs, Democratic Rep. Mark Udall is in the race and is the likely frontrunner; he showed more than $1.2 million on hand just prior to this month's election.

In the meantime, the open seat in CD-2 is going to result in an absolute nomination circus on both sides of the aisle! Colorado Pols has listed some Democrats, including State Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald and Mike Miles(!!) as possible candidates. They say Mike is "itching to run" but of course I don't beleive a word they say. If Mike is holding to what he personally told me last spring, then he's not "itching" to run, but is determined to do his best as Superintendent of the Harrison School District in the Colorado Springs area. But an any rate, whether Colorado Trolls is right or wrong, who might be a front-runner in that race? CP also didn't list any rape-ublicans. Does the convential wisdom consider this to be a "safe" Democratic seat? Just curious.

Registration in CD2 leans towards unaffiliateds. But voting trends there are Democratic. It'd be hard for the GOP to mount a credible challenge.

The Dem frontrunners: Fitz-Gerald and Jared Polis. If one of them isn't CD2's rep in 2009, I'll die of shock.
