Tancredo running against the wrong Democrat
I just love how Tom Tancredo is whining about one of John Salazar's staffers when he doesn't even have the courage to debate Bill Winter. You can't distract the voters forever, Tom.

Centennial, CO: Congressional Candidate Bill Winter responded to Rep. Tom Tancredo’s distasteful letter to Pope Benedict and subsequent attempt to draw Rep. John Salazar into a battle over Mr. Tancredo’s unfortunate comments about Islam.
Winter said, "Why is Mr. Tancredo trying to teach the Pope how to run the Catholic Church when he will not spend time in his District speaking to his constituents about what is important to them? Why is Mr. Tancredo traveling to South Carolina and speaking before groups dedicated to Southern secession when he should be focusing on issues in his own District such as depleting water resources and transportation gridlock? Why is Mr. Tancredo trying to pick a fight with Rep. Salazar when he refuses to debate his opponent in his own District? Is he scared to debate me because he knows full well that he can only speak to one issue? Even on that one issue, Mr. Tancredo can only resort to fear tactics and divisiveness."
The Pope has repeatedly apologized since making his comments in Germany last week about Islam, quoting a 14th Century Byzantine emperor who said that some of the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings commanded Muslims to, “spread by the sword the faith.” As Mr. Tancredo was writing a letter to the Pope encouraging him to drive a deeper wedge between the Western World and Islam, the Pope invited leaders of Muslim countries to his summer residence for a meeting on Monday to diffuse tensions.
Winter also took strong exception to Rep. Tancredo’s portrayal of Islam. He said, “Branding all Muslims as extremists and terrorists would be like equating all Christians to the KKK or the Aryan Nations. There is a serious problem with extremist Islam and Islamic terrorists in this World, but so long as Mr. Tancredo talks to the national media and tries to tie all Muslims to these extremists, he is only creating an opportunity for more people around the world to hate this great country.”
Winter added, "Furthermore, as a representative of this district, Mr. Tancredo is putting a target onto Littleton, Greenwood Village, Centennial and the rest of this district. At a time when President Bush is reaching out to Muslim leaders such as Pakistan’s President Musharraf in an attempt to create worldwide resolve to fight terrorism, Mr. Tancredo is trying to create an irreparable divide that will undoubtedly lead to more attempts at violence towards our country and this district. Some of our greatest friends in the fight against terrorism are in the Muslim world. We must not alienate them with careless and misguided rhetoric."

Is there some way to bring more public attention to the fact that Tancredo refuses to debate? It's so frustrating... I don't see signs or bumper stickers for Tancredo while my neighborhood is loaded with signs for Bill. Tancredo takes the voters so much for granted he doesn't think he needs to bother. The fact that CO-06 voters keep letting him get away with it doesn't say much for our voters!
