Square State: There's a rumor that Beauprez picked Jane Norton to be his lieutenant governor.
Me: No, no. Jane Norton is Bill Owens' lieutenant governor. You must be confused.
Square State: No, he really did pick Owens' lieutenant governor to be his lieutenant governor.
Me: [Laughter for nearly 10 minutes]

The more I think about this, the stranger it sounds. I posted the following in a thread at Square State:
After the Students for Beauprez fiasco, I am leery of right-wing blogs. Why would Beauprez pick a divisive runningmate who he'd have to dump in his re-election campaign? And how did totheright get this info five days ahead of the official announcement?
If it's true, it's a dumb pick for Beauprez and an even dumber leak, unless he's puposefully trying to make the official announcement as low-key and anti-climactic as possible.
It makes just as much sense to wonder if tothe right made the whole thing up.
