Dennis changed election rules at Beauprez lawyer's behest
Not too long ago, I wrote a post over at Square State titled "It's rigged: Gigi Dennis makes up her own rules." Well, it turns out she didn't make them up. The Beauprez camp dictated them to her. From today's Denver Post:
Republican Secretary of State Gigi Dennis made controversial changes to Colorado campaign-finance rules after requests from lawyers who work for the state GOP, gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez and a powerful Republican political committee, records show.

More here. And here.
Papers mainly print letters to the editor in response to particular articles, editorials etc. Let's take advantage by using this one as an excuse to write letters supporting straight arrow Ken Gordon for Secretary of State. If they get a bunch they will certainly print one, maybe more. Just e-mail letters to:
openforum@denverpost.com
Use "RE: State heeds GOP, alters finance rules" as your subject line.
Also you can site the nice letter about BIll Winter, questioning the lack of news coverage, in today's (24th) Denver Post to add more letters supporting Bill Winter and asking why the media are not covering Tancredo's opponent and why it's so hard to get Tancredo to debate Bill.
Sure, but that would get in the way of Mark David Karr news.
We can still get letters published and that does count for something. I manage to get one in pretty regularly. True, not many read past the headlines these days, but those who do vote.
Today(25th) there is a good letter in the Post dissing Beauprez and another spelling out how the last thing the present gutless congress is doing is supporting the troops. If they get enough good letters on our issues and our candidates, some will get in the paper. It's a grassroots way to bring SOME attention our way no matter how lame mainstream media priorities may be.
Also call or e-mail to complain about those priorities. It certainly can't hurt. The religious right was writing letters, complaining, signing petitions, getting on school boards and running for local office for a decade while we were all asleep. Worked pretty well for them, didn't it?
