That's important because Democrats are often "seen as East Coast urban elites," said Jim Gibson, president of the Colorado Democratic Leadership Council, which is hosting the group's national meeting in Denver this weekend.
So Jim, I s'pose that means you're either 1) not a good Democrat 2) a bad spokesman for a party you're trying to "help", or 3) another DLC East Coast Urban Elitist posing as a populist.
Jim, how are we going to kill this lie if the DLC'ers keep repeating it every two days?
The way we've let the richest, most exclusive, greediest bunch of corporate princes on the planet sell the myth of a latte drinking Dem elite is beyond stupid. In the real world, the Lear jet corporate elite are almost exclusively Republican. Liberal Hollywood stars are overwhelmingly very small potatoes compared with the Republican elite, some of whom have more wealth as individuals than a lot of countries have in the form of gross national product. And ultra-rich Republicans aren't exactly spending their time having beers and shooting the breeze with ordinary Joes. Certainly not our silver-spoon President.
Instead of DEMS being on the defensive, we should be putting the REPUBLICAN elite on the defensive. It's our own fault that we let Bush and friends sell themselves as just plain folks. For decades we've been ducking for cover whenever the real power and wealth elite yells "class warfare! Socialism!" We've been cowards and it has to stop. The one thing the American voter HATES is a wimp.
I just got back from a 1,000 mile swing through the Western Slope, 4-corners, and the San Luis Valley. And, well, what do you know, lots of new oil derricks.....
I'm sure the outdoors folks, the hook and bullet crowd, can't like that one bit.
