Herb vs. mudslinging

I am just a wee bit busy right now. So here's the latest of CD7 Democratic candidate Herb Rubenstein's spots. They always seem to get a rise out of people.

Love the ad, Herb! I'm glda we finally have a candidate who isn't wishy washy like Lamm and Perlmutter, who seem to think attacking one another will help them win this race.

Anyone who listened to Jay Marvin 760 AM on Tuesday morning with all 3 candidates can clearly see why Herb is the best candidate for this job.

If Ed and Peggy don't get over themselves and their lame bashing to one another, I think I'm gonna heave.

By the way, if Ed and Peggy can't talk about the ISSUES now and only bash each other, how do you think they're going to act in congress? Exactly the way they are right now, like idiots.

Herb talks sincerely and passionately abut the issues we care about -- damn it if we care about our core beleife than maybe we ought to vote that way

What bull! Perlmutter does talk about issues. He has a definite policy on the Iraq war. He supports redeployment along the lines of the Murtha plan. I thought Dems LIKED the Murtha plan. And we can run all the most progressive candidates we want from evenly divided or Republican leaning districts. They won't win. Period. Not gonna happen. The only way to give the most progressive Dems, like Degette and Udall, real power is to give them the majority so that WE can head all the committees, control what does and doesn't come up for a vote, control the purse strings, initiate invvestigations, subpoena officials, perform REAL over-sight. The only way to do that is to run people who can take their districts. Each only represents one vote in congress, but each one, center left, far left, or even center right contributes to that majority and puts Dems back in power. That's why Republicans support moderates in liberal states. The conservatives can afford a couple of dissenting votes. They can't afford to lose the majority and all their power. Anyone who thinks that a Dem like Perlmutter isn't progressive enough to help a Dem majority change America for the better is nuts. Anybody who thinks Rubenstein can win the 7th is a naive child. As long as we refuse to be grown-ups and get hard headed about taking back congress, we will be stuck with signing petitions and voting for non-binding resolutions that go nowhere.

Using the coffins of American military to define your stand on the Iraq war? Instead of running for Congress, you might want to think about running for Canada. Or, would that be cutting and running for Canada?

The coffins show the truth and it is an official U.S. defense department photograph. Herb has every right, and actually a duty, to show this official picture.

His new ad tells the story - he talks about the issues and his opponents just talk about each other.

Anyone who thinks Herb can not beat O'Donnell is just wrong. Have you heard the stuff Rubenstein has on O'Donnell. He will beat him easily and will have lots of money to do it.

Dream on Anonymous! It's because of naive Dems like you that we are where we are...Completely out of power in Washington.

Ed Perlmutter talking about issues?
He has no position on Iraq other than the parsing of words. He has no position on health care other than cliches and on oil he has sent out letters from supporters making it clear that he will be a monkey boy for big oil.
Herb Rubenstein is for real. He will be on TV for two weeks. This is suddenly a three way race. Vote to end the war, vote your conscience. Herb is the strongest candidate in November because he lacks the baggage of the other two

Democrats lost the Senate in 2002 and the White House becaUse they lacked the guts to oppose the war in Iraq. Real good modertes like Tom Strickland sure did great by ducking the issues didn't they?

Strickland came a lot closer than HR is ever going to get and the climate is much more to our advantage now if we don't screw it up. I also don't understand, anonymous, why you keep saying that Perlmutter is skirting the issues. What is it about statements like... I support phased redeployment and bringing our troops home as quickly and safely as possible, I support funding stem cell research, I support an aggressive energy independence program, I think we should fully fund no child left behind or scrap it... that is "ducking the issues"? And what is it about HR's detailed plan for Iraq that doesn't depend entirely on our Republican administration and every foreign country and faction involved suddenly becoming reasonable and willingly doing whatever a would-be freshman Rep. suggests? Does this strike anyone as having any chance of EVER happening? I know... but we have to try ,even if it's only tilting at windmills because it's just so darned noble. We wouldn't want to do anything less than what would be perfect in an ideal world just to TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY now, would we? While you're at it, why not recruit Nader to run again in 2008?

Maybe it's just the low resolution, but that guy laying in bed looks an awful lot like George Bush.
