Ask Allard, Salazar to help DeGette wake up Bush

The U.S. Senate is beginning debate on CD1 Democratic representative Diana DeGette's bill to expand funding for stem cell research. Make sure to contact Senators Allard and Salazar and tell them to vote for the bill.

Why go to the trouble when our theocrat-in-chief has threatened to use his first-ever veto on the bill? Because you owe it to DeGette, for standing up to Bush. You owe it to the 70% of Americans who support her bill. And you owe it to all those who are fighting diseases like Parkinsons, paralysis and diabetes.

Bush is hiding from reality. Let's make sure it finds him.

DeGette goes Back to the Future. I'm glad she is pushing this and I am glad to see that she isn't backing down either. And Michael J. Fox is the shit.

Dear co democrat,
What does your comment on Michael J. Fox refer to?

f.sage,

I'm not co democrat, but I'm fairly sure he meant it as a compliment. As in, "I love vanilla lattes. They're the shit."

How "the shit" came to be part of the vernacular, I have no idea.

Sometimes we old people need a little help. I'm familiar with phat (ancient history now, I know) but not shit for a compliment! Thanks for the up-date. Does this mean that Bush was really being complimentary the other day?

What did he say? I missed it.

On language, if you say something or someone is shit, that is an insult. Though if you say that they are "The Shit", that's a compliment.

I was being sarcastic. At a lunch, while Bush didn't realize that a mic was on he said that Syria should just tell Hezbolla to "cut that shit out". It played over and over. There was Tony Blair being the perfect gentleman and Bush being vulgar while stuffing his face. What struck me more though was Bush saying that he thought Condi was going to go, meaning to the region. He didn't seem very sure about what the plan was. I guess Uncle Dick hadn't filled him in yet.
