It ain't easy being sleazy: Part 2

I see Herb Rubenstein quite a bit. Typically at progressive rallies and meetings. And I have met Ed Perlmutter three times now. Always at Democratic party events. But I have never really spent any time with the third CD7 Democratic candidate, Peggy Lamm. I've judged her almost solely based on my relationship with her staffers. So one reason I agreed to act in Peggy's podcast was that I hoped it might give me the chance to get to know her a little.

The problem is that politicians are tough people to know. They meet thousands of people. They give the same speeches over and over. And they tend to watch what they say when they know they're talking to a blogger. A five minute conversation with a politician almost always leaves me shrugging my shoulders.

But watching Peggy play with a two year old child? That told me all I need to know.

Like a lot of guys, I am sort of in awe of babies. But since I have one of my own on the way, I've started paying more attention to how people treat their children. Peggy spent a big chunk of time on the set playing with a couple's two-year-old child. Trying to get it to laugh. That sort of thing.

Does that mean she's qualified to be the CD7 nominee? No. But as I have written before, all of the CD7 Democratic candidates have the right qualifications. And none of them are as ethically-challenged as Republican Rubber Stamp Rick O'Donnell.

What I was looking for was a reason to disqualify one of the Democrats to make the field a little narrower. But it's just not there. Whoever is doing candidate recruitment for the Democrats deserves a gold star. And CD7 has a tough choice to make.

I agree, we do have three great candidates, they are all qualified and nice people.

But Herb is the only one who will actually TALK about the war. I know he is against it and has been all along. I have never walked away from a conversation with him thinking I was just fed a politically driven canned response, because canned responses are never that direct. That is the difference.

Peggy Lamm is even more ethically challenged than Rick O'Donnell. Lamm endorses Bill Owens in hopes of getting a job from him. Than lies about it. Peggy is spreading lies about Ed Perlmutter.
Peggy has lied on TV about where she lives.

Go to the web sites of the three candidates for CD 7.
Which one sets forth a clear vision?
Which one is clearly against the War.

If I voted in CD 7 based on the annoyance factor of blog commenters, it's between Herb's staff overposting about the war, Ed's staff overposting unsubstantiated mudslinging, and Peggy's staff totally absent. I'd vote for Peggy.

I agree with Louis. Why all the mudslinging against Peggy Lamm over such trivial issues? All of the attacks against her make me think the other candidates are threatened by her presence in this race.

I have seen all three candidates debate one another, and I personally endorse Herb Rubenstein. Herb speaks clearly and directly on the war and health care, while the other candidates do not take strong stands on these important matters to the voters of the 7th District. I have complete faith in Mr. Rubenstein mostly because he is educated on the issues and has a strong stance on all of them, a commendable quality that I would like to see taken to our country's Congress.

People want change. Herb represents change. He is not backed by the establishment like his two Democratic opponents and the Republican. He is going to be a force in Colorado politics and his surge in popularity over the past six months shows that he will be a force sooner rather than later.

Herb has built a base in six months, and gained a strong reputation and a following and that usually takes someone six years. Since this is his first run for office, he brings a newness to politics. He is going to issue a White Paper on “New Politics” that will shake up politics in the 7th CD, in Colorado and in the U.S. Keep your eye out.
