Love Ken Gordon's idea about a law to start the ball rolling on getting a President elected by the majority without having to amend the constitution, a nearly impossible task. If enough states pass laws like this, the electoral college system, originally constituted for the purpose of getting the southern planter aristocracy on board by giving them enough power to hold their own with more populous northern states, will lose it's power. As for the electoral college giving smaller states power and more attention in Presidential races, not so much. They have the Senate for power and only get presidential election year attention if they are small AND closely divided AND it's a close election. The electoral college is a dinosaur. Good idea Ken Gordon!
