Allard to U.S. Constitution: "Bite me."
In an interview yesterday, the most conservative Senator in America, Colorado's Wayne Allard, accused Senator Russ Feingold of siding with the terrorists. No word on whether Allard feels the same way about the plurality of Coloradans who agree that our President's wiretapping program broke the law.
I can't believe that we live in a country in which adhering to the law is considered unpatriotic. Bush should be censured, if not impeached. Feingold should be given a medal for bravery. And you should go to Progress Now Action immediately to sign the petition demanding that Allard apologize to Feingold. And to me, while he's at it. Then call Allard's office at (202) 224-5941 and demand he start behaving like a real, live Senator instead of a walking rubber stamp.
If Allard wants to live in a monarchy, he should move to Brunei. In fact, he should move to Brunei anyway. Just get him out of America.

Hmmm I don't see anything here or on ColoPols regarding the Buffie McFadden deal...
Ms J,
Are you talking about the Research and Democracy thing?
Or are you talking about this:
http://emrosa.blogspot.com/2005/09/co-complaint-dropped-against-mcfadyen.html
Just for reference, it is Buffie McFadyen.
nope not it. Word on the street is some aren't happy about a $6000 cont. to her that she has chosen to keep anon.
$6,080.12? That is the R&D thing:

Thanks for the links. I think it is interesting that what I have been involved in regarding contributions they want your whole life story. How does one get away with just magically having this $6,000.00. Oh well won't help Ms. McFadyen anyway.
As for this entry, when did the Dems start caring about the Constitution? It is fine when you start twisting things to use it as a crutch, however it becomes the untouchable ultimate document when it is used to protect our Country. Hmm.. protect our Country, isn't that what it is for? As we know President Bush was in his rights as President to allow the wire-tapings. Ever since the impeachment of Clinton, Dems are dying to find grounds to impeach Bush.

Re the R&D thing: I don't get how the donation process works, either. I donated $50 bucks to Winter and had to fill out the most scrupulous of questionaires.
I don't understand a lot about gov't. Like, I thought all the C&D money was already promised to various education initiatives. Now people are debating whether to spend it all on transportation? How is that possible?
Re the Constitution: Your point that both parties invoke the Constitution when it suits their purposes is well taken. But I don't share your faith that Bush was only trying to help protect America when he invaded the privacy of its citizens. FISA courts almost never turn down wiretap requests and those requests can be filed up to three days after the taps are in place. What possible justification could Bush have for just wiretapping whoever he wants and lying about it.
I don't get to write as much about Bush as I'd like, because there are many blogs dedicated to national politics and mine is one of the only ones dedicated to locals-only. But even after the Iraqi WMDs never showed up, I still thought of him as a good person who just wasn't up to the task of being president. I no longer believe that. The rampant cronyism, the "I'm too busy vacationing to care" response to Katrina, the jokes about not being able to find WMDs, and now the illegal wiretaps... I'm at my wits' end. What will it take for the American people to say, "Whoops, we made a mistake"?
I sincerely hope for America's sake that the Republicans nominate McCain or Rice or even Romney in '08. Somebody who at least has some morals and intelligence.
I think RNC will come up with far better contenders then those three. In fact I find it interesting that you would name Rice in that list.
Rice strikes me as a smart cookie. Her expertise is in nation-state relations, not globalism. That's a problem. But at least she's not a career politician like Frist or Allen. Ms. J, care to share your RNC picks for '08?
Rice is very intelligent, but unless she comes out from under Bush and shows she has a brain of her own, I just don't know.. McCain and Rice would both be nominations that would be good for the vote but I'm not sure if it would be good for the party... How about Tancredo?
Tancredo only appeals to the paleoconservative wing of the Republican party. While I have some respect for them, I don't think their worldview is valid in the age of the Internet, globalization and so on. Does anybody really want Tancredo negotiating trade agreements with China?
Hey,
Fellow liberal, Coloradoan blogger here!! I like what you are saying here on your blog and am going to link to you. :)
I too am appauled by the Allard comment. I am so sick of these neo-con-jobbers. Ugh.
Keep up the great work!!
I listened to the debate on
www.am760.net.
Peggy Lamm and Ed Perlmutter echo and support what George W. Bush is doing in Iraq.
Why should Democrats support either one of them?
Vote for Herb Rubenstein antiwar Democrat
Thanks for the props and the link on geniusofinsanityworld, James! I plan to revise my lib blogger links this weekend and I'll definitely add you.
The CD7 debate is at:
