The Lamms vs. democracy
Only the most politically obsessed will spend their Broncos Playoff Sunday reading a local liberal blog. For you troubled souls, I suggest Richard and Dottie Lamm's editorial in today's Denver Post. The Lamms think that democracy may be unable to cope with current economic and environmental challenges.

Well, it's dead-on right. The relative size of the elder population will grow into a disaster. Hopefully, however, the rightwing stoneheads of the boomer generation will be leaving soon, thus shifting the orientation of the remaining base to the left. Also, the remaining base will be substantially more computer and net literate than before, something politicos will do well to pay attention to.
What I'm concerned about as I grow older is the growing hostility of the young towards the old. Their attitudes show the hopelessness of recent generations - and their boundless savagery. I think we desperately need to keep younger Americans connected to their elders - failure to do so will lead to some of the darkest chapters of American History.
