Scandal discussion thread
Several Dems have brought up the fact that Scooter Libby wrote an erotic novel which includes scenes where bears rape girls and people rape deer. (Yes, you read that correctly.) I have read passages from "The Apprentice." Most of it is terrible, but the writing has its moments. Like the opening sentence, "On the edge of a ridge removed from the sea lay a small wooden inn half-buried in snow." (Leave the outright lyricism to Republican speechwriters like Mark Helprin, whose novel "Winter's Tale" is a masterpiece.)
One area activist emailed me and said, "After reading a great deal about the Jeff Gannon affair and Bohemian Grove I wonder if there is some connection between Gannon, the Grove and the White House. I would never have thought of this until I found out about this book."
As a professional writer, I am torn. A novel about child prostitution in 1903 hardly counts as kiddie porn. But does Libby's choice of subjects and explicit writing point out the general moral laxity of the White House? And does it tie into the Gannon scandal? Search the internet and you will find a great deal of information on Jeff Gannon including that a woman whose son was abducted at age 10 or 12 thinks that this is her son. If so and his conversation with her is true then he was abducted and forced into child prostitution. Hard to believe. It could keep you awake at night.
