Enter the rumor mill
The news on the night after the election gives us the hard facts. The next day, the pundits at the major dailies give their opinions. And now, the political underground is churning out pure conjecture about a flood of Democratic entrants into the primary for the 2006 governor's race. After all, State Rep. Republican Joe Stengel himself recently bemoaned that "we now have become a blue state." (See the November 2, 2005 Rocky Mountain News article "Stengel: TABOR 'as good as dead.'")
State Sen. Ken Gordon was at the front of the pack on the C and D issues, and now folks are speculating that he will throw his hat in the governor's race. Ditto Andrew Romanoff. After all, they have beaten Beauprez and Holtzman once, right?
There is also a 'draft Hickenlooper' movement. They have set up shop at http://www.drafthick.com/. Their blog hasn't been updated in awhile. But they do have some snazzy t-shirts for sale.
Others speculate that a Denver Democrat has no chance in a statewide election. I have read that Pueblo Democrat Bill Thiebaut has been contacted about a possible candidacy.
Who needs DC's rumors? "Rove is out." "Bolton was one of Libby's four sources." "McCain turned down the vice-presidency again." Who cares? We've got a soap opera right here in Colorado.

Coloradopols.com has shifted their big line for the guv's mansion. Ritter and Holtzman are both at 5-1. Both Ways Bob falls to 6-1. Romanoff scoots up to 15-1.
